From a plot of Gamay grapes planted in Givors, this little powerhouse is unmistakably Rhône in its dark, meaty, mineral structure, but it's also unmistakably Gamay in its expressiveness, transparency and medium-weight texture. In so many ways, this is the perfect Summer dinner red - it's bold enough to handle grill/BBQ flavors, but it's also elegant/nimble enough to work with a slight chill. What really interests me, though, is what it will be like in 2-3 years!
