MCF Rare Wine

Roy-Prevostat

Last week, a supplier delivery showed up and Raphael brought me the invoice and asked what I wanted to price the wine at.

I looked at the invoice, for Roy-Prevostat's Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2018, and said, 'I don't think I ordered that...'

I pondered for a moment and recalled having tasted it a few weeks earlier, and knowing the producer (and that I most likely had, in fact ordered it), I decided that I didn't need to inquire, and we just put it up on the shelf.

A day later, I dropped by the shop to grab a few bottles for the weekend, and I saw it sitting there.

I cracked a bottle, poured out a glass for Ray and Raphael and then headed home.

The story from there was a familiar one - upon taking my first sip, I was immediately reminded of a) how good it was and, consequently b) why I had ordered a bunch of it.

Over the last few years, we've really come to appreciate Roy-Prevostat's super-traditional and amazingly ageworthy Chablis.  They often release older wines that showcase just how well they age, but, as this 2018 VV so perfectly demonstrates, they're pretty darn good when young.

Chiseled, citric, textured and firmly mineral, this is a whole lotta Chablis, especially for the money.

If you love them linear, aromatic and complex...and duhh, who doesn't...

...well, here you go...
