White Burgundy Dreams in Summer: Domaine Corsin and Domain Rollin

Ah, summer in France. Warm sunshine, picturesque beaches, outdoor markets teeming with fresh produce, lazy afternoons on the café terrace, four weeks of vacation, salade Niçoise, roast Provençal chicken and of course, delicious wine. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

I personally will not be making it to France this summer...or taking four weeks of vacation...(Bon voyage to those of you who will!) but summer daydreams are permissible no matter where you are in the world. Thanks for sharing in mine there for a moment.  For everyone remaining in a stateside reverie with me these next couple of months, I invite you to instead bring a bit of France to your summer via these two excellent white Burgundies from Domaine Corsin and Domaine Rollin.

Domaine Corsin Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Chailloux 2014

A wonderful, vibrantly colored single-vineyard Pouilly-Fuissé from the esteemed Domaine Corsin. The rich fruit and kiss of mostly neutral oak have mellowed nicely with the bottle aging, helping to bring the freshness and minerality a bit more into focus. There is just a touch of savory spiciness on the palate as well. This bottle is in a wonderful place.

Domaine Rollin Pere et Fils Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc 2017

Lively yet weighty Chardonnay. Elegant and mineral, the Rollin is the racier counterpoint to the Domaine Corsin while still retaining conspicuous summer fruits with a touch of honey.  Many of you are well aware that Domaine Rollin is easily one of our favorite white Burgundy producers. This Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc offers the usual tremendous value from Rollin.

One more note that both of these bottles would be great with that Provençal chicken we were musing about up above!
