The 2018s of Domaine Rollin

The whites of Domaine Rollin are, to put it plainly, some of my all time favorites from the Cote de Beaune.

They aren't over stylized, and they aren't overpriced.

What they are, though, is fragrant and focused, and defined by their crystalline purity.

The tension between the lithe, citric fruit and the electric acidity is, for me, what a great glass of classic Chardonnay is all about.

The AC Pernand Blanc remains one of the great village wines on the market, while the lieu-dit Les Cloux adds a bit more texture and complexity.

The 1er Cru Sous Fretille, with its taut, focused and wildly aromatic profile, is one of the most underrated wines on the market, and it will age beautifully, as well.

(I recently had a bottle of the 2014 that was in a lovely place.)

And, of course, the Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru has the firmness and stuffing to last a good decade in the cellar, picking up all manner of profound nuance along the way.

Oh, and let's not forget the lovely Bourgogne Aligoté, which punches way above its weight, as well.

I say it every year, and I'll say it again - the fact that these wines still fly way under the radar is baffling to me...

...but then I realize that them flying under the radar means that I get a whole bunch to sell to all of you!
