Forey and Jean Marc Pillot

As I noted in Tuesday's email (and thank you all so much for the outpouring of support and well wishes, we were truly touched), we are in the midst of a move down the street, so this one will be pretty brief and to the point.

Today I'm happy to offer dueling sets of wines from two of our favorite producers in the Cote d'Or: Jean Marc Pillot and Domaine Forey.

Jean Marc Pillot is a producer I have a long history with personally, as they were really the wines that introduced me to great White Burgundy.  He is most well-known for his 1er Cru whites from Chassagne, but also has plenty of fans for his Saint Romain, Puligny and even his fantastic Bourgognes.

His lineup in 2014 is classic Pillot -- clean, focused and fresh with great clarity, but they also have just the right amount of roundness to them, which gives the wines a gregariousness that I've always found so refreshing given that they come from such serious real estate.

The other set are the 2014s from Regis Forey.

I'll just go ahead and say it -- these 2014s are, in my opinion, the finest wines that Regis has produced since he took over from his father in the late 1980s.  While he's spent many years making deeper, more powerful wines than his father did, he has since been dialing it back to in recent years.  In 2014, the wines personify elegance.  They are sublime examples of the ethereal beauty that great wines from the Cote de Nuits can possess.

His importer, Neal Rosenthal, shares this view that they are Regis' finest wines to date.  In fact, even Stephen Tanzer has opined that he prefers these 2014s to the upcoming (and much more hyped) 2015s.

All wines are extremely limited in availability.

These are here in NYC and should be available for collection/delivery as soon as we are settled into the new space, hopefully within a week.

I know there are a few other offers that are still pending, but things are rather chaotic here right now and we thank you very much, again, for your patience while we transition to the new shop.
