Cuilleron Syrah Vignes d'a Cote 2015

Since it's Friday evening, I'll make this one fast.

Continuing along with delicious values that will also happen to work wonderfully with Thanksgiving, today's arrival is about as delicious a November wine for the dough as you'll encounter.

Yves Cuilleron's top-tier reds from Cote Rotie are often (unfairly, if you ask me) maligned because of the use of new oak, but his mid and base-level reds are some of the truly unsung and delightful experiences in classic French Syrah.

The base-line IGP wines are done all in stainless steel and are fresh, lively and offer great typicity.

2015 is a hotly-anticipated vintage for the Northern Rhone, so I was really excited to see how this Syrah Vignes d'a Cote turned out.

The results are strong with this one...

Dark, juicy, savory, fresh -- all of the flavors you'd want from a young Syrah without the weight or fierce tannin.

Dare I call this a 'refreshing'  Northern Rhone red?

The transparency and cleanliness of the wine lets the bright, joyous, but still properly-pungent Syrah character shine through.

$18...yeah...
