MCF Rare Wine

A Sunday Shorty - a deep, rich, complex and still developing red from Northern Italy, that's got all the power and texture to stand up to the spiciest, smokiest flavors your grill can throw at it...

...a Barbera, of course...

...Giacomo Boveri's Barbera Superiore Bricco delle Ginestra 2013, specifically...

As is fairly typical for a Barbera from the Colli Tortonesi zone of Monferrato, this is a rather flamboyant, dense Barbera but, once it gets some age under its belt, as this one has, the flamboyance tones itself down, and the complexity starts to really emerge.

So, what you have here is a dark, powerful Barbera that has plenty of earthy depth, savory herbaceousness, mineral structure and classic Barbera acidity to keep it all balanced.

It's got personality...

It's got complexity...

It's got age...

It's exactly what you need once you wipe down your brow after sweating over the grill all day, throw off your apron and finally sit down, stinking like smoke, to enjoy whatever you've just plated up.

So have yourself a Barbera-cue...
