MCF Rare Wine

A Fantastic Release from Our Favorite French Badass

The wines of Elian Da Ros, in the Côtes du Marmandais of SW France, have been a staple...

...even a signature set of wines here at MCF for more than a decade at this point.

Much like I did before I opened this shop, Elian worked around at more well-known, fancier places and, once he had a command of things, he set up his own place to do things his way.

And that way meant returning to his home region, a part of France known mostly for producing vegetables called the Marmandais, and crafting wines of pure character.

What kind of character?

If well-mannered, shiny-suited Bordeaux had a much cooler, artsier, more adventurous and more genuine younger sibling...

...that kind of character.

Yeah, he's a badass.

And to this day, I still can't understand why they never achieved 'it' status...

...but I'm not complaining...

...more for us this Fall...

ELIAN da ROS
Elian Da Ros Le Vin est Une Fête 2023 - One of our all-time favorites here at MCF, Da Ros Vin este Une Fête is a blend of Merlot, Cab Franc and the local Abouriou grape.  Picture an honest drinking, balanced Bordeaux, but with a wilder, more interesting personality!  Wine is a party, indeed!

Elian Da Ros Le Vignoble d'Élian 2021 - The Vignoble d'Elian, is, pound for pound, my favorite wine that Da Ros makes.  This is a blend of 50% Cab Franc, 30% Merlot and 20% Syrah and is just unbelievably delicious, especially for the price.  It's dark, intensely mineral, wild, spicy and has a chiseled focus to it that holds it all upright.  Think Bordeaux meets Southern Rhône...or just think Southwest...

Elian Da Ros Chante Coucou 2022 - One of the two 'vin de garde' of Elian's lineup, the Chante Coucou is 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and 10% Syrah.  In this 2022 vintage, the Coucou is especially friendly in its dark, deeply mineral profile, yet it still has all of the stuffing to sit for a decade.
