A Muscadet Legend
As a wine shop owner, one of the perks is having a ready-made place to stash bottles for your own future consumption.

While some of the stuff I squirrel away would be considered 'collectible' in the traditional sense, most of it isn't.  Those of you who know me know that I'm a champion of moderately priced wines that age well in the near-to-medium term.

One wine that I almost always sock a few bottles of is today's wine - the Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet Clisson.

Domaine Pépière is a legend in the region (their wines are arguably the reason Americans fell in love with Muscadet in the first place), and the Clisson is, for me, their most legendary wine.

Its legend stems from the legendary soils of the village of Clisson, which are comprised of the legendarily dense Granite de Clisson.

The resulting wine is chiseled, focused, mineral and elegant in a way that can only be described as legendary.

Then, as it ages, its legend only grows, as it puts on texture, breadth and the cheese-y, nutty, stony complexity really kicks into high gear.

When I can get them, I always keep a double-mag of it for myself, which I'll open at a group meal setting some ten-ish years down the line - always in the Summer, and always in a place with fresh seafood.

And when I do, it makes said meal, well...legendary...

So, be a legend yourself by pouring a legendary wine...

Okay, I'm done being annoying...
