MCF Rare Wine

A Mineral Laser Beam from Sanger

I know, it's January...why send Champagne now?

Well, first and foremost, because it's delicious.  And, B, for Champagne fans, any occasion, all year long, is a good time for Champagne.

Maybe because you're admitted that you're ready to be done with 'Dry January', and you need something really nice to jump back in with...

And maybe it will help dull the pain of potential wine tariffs...but anyway...

This particular one, the Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Triangle Mineral 2010 from Champagne Sanger, was a hit here all throughout the holidays, and I keep getting requests for more, so...

...I got more...

Specifically, though, this one is really good when you need a drink with nice 'cut' - that is one that has a lean, mean profile that's packed with mineral focus and electric acidity...

Like when you're having Sushi, Spicier Asian fare, OYSTERS (!)...

This single vineyard, single vintage, Blanc de Blancs (single varietal) Grand Cru offers the best of all worlds right now.  It's a laser-focused, mineral packed, race car of a bubbly, but it's also starting to show a little development, too.

The wonderful broadening that happens to Chardonnay as it puts on a bit of age appears here, at the edges of the bouquet, and the very finish of the finish...

...after all that energy lights up your palate and finally dissipates...at the very end...there's a lovely nudge of that soft, savory Chardonnay nuttiness.

Just a nudge...

Two of my longest-time customers, a couple who I've know since before I even opened MCF, throw a fabulous Holiday Party every year, and the wine behind the bar is always courtesy of yours truly.

And they always have the guys from Oyster Party shucking and dealing...and I've become known as the guy who loiters by the Oysters for most of the night...(I mean, what can I say?  I'm only human...)

When it comes to the wine recos, at least for the white and the bubbly, Oysters are always at the top of my mind.  So, when it came time to pick the Champagne, 'I have the perfect option!' was my response.

The 2010 Triangle checked all the boxes for that setting, and just about any other one, for that matter.  It was structured, racy, complex and delicious...and, with today's special pricing, a value to boot.

Why Champagne now?

Why the H not?
