A Bourgogne Beauty

Finding a feisty little gem of a Bourgogne Blanc with few years of bottle age on it is one of the great things in wine.

And every time I've had something like this, you've all rejoiced to the tune of buying them all instantly, and then asking if there was any left for months and months after they were gone.

So I found another one for you, and after it's gone, it'll be gone.

(Just FYI...)

The historic Henri Clerc estate in Puligny is now under the control of Eric Germain, and the biodynamic farming and deft touch in the cellar yield exceptional wines.  While the 1ers and Grands Crus are indeed stunning, the fabulous Bourgogne Blanc is easily one of the best on the market, especially in terms of QPR.

This beautiful, sprightly 2016 takes a good half hour to really get going, but once it does get going, the going is good...

...really good.

It's clean, it's remarkably fresh (and continues to get even fresher with air), and it has terrific aromatic precision.  The 'precision' theme continues on the palate, as well, where it's complimented by wonderfully transparent and nimble Chardonnay fruit, that pulsates with the kind of complexity you expect, but often miss, in many a ho-hum example of much pricier appellation wine.

A legit glass of mature White Burgundy, for you pure Summer enjoyment...

...for $26/btl...

Enjoy!
