2 Days In The Valley

Part 2: Loire Whites

On Monday, I expounded upon my deep appreciation for the wines of the Loire Valley, both red and white, as an antecedent to an offer on a couple of delicious Chinon. You can find that newsletter and offer here. Today comes Part 2 of that offer, the Loire Valley white wines, which I am keeping brief for those of you who might still be making your way through Part 1.  The three bottles in today's offer perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the Loire in their excellence and affordability.  Additionally, between the three of them, they will cover most of your white wine needs for the summer. The Chenin Blanc, like the Chinons in Monday's offer, will also carry you well into the Fall.

Courtault-Tardieux Touraine Sauvignon Les Sageres 2018

A delightfully fresh and crisp Sauvignon. The citrus and stone fruit aromas coming from the glass are quite mouthwatering. This is a perfect go-to summer bottle, as it works nicely as an aperitif and will also pair with your lighter summer fare. I can't get past the thought of an herbed Chèvre at the moment but this is a versatile Sauvignon.

Domaine de l'Epinay Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Clisson 2015

Left on the lees for nearly 3 years, this Clisson is full of character and intensity.  Aromatic, textured and well-balanced, the minerality, subtle fruit and acidity are working in perfect harmony in this bottle. As is typical of a great Muscadet, this bottle sings out for oysters and Moules Frites.

Vigneau-Chevreau Vouvray Sec Clos de Rougemont 2017

A beautiful Chenin Blanc from one of the oldest vineyards in Vouvray, fresh and complex with a super long finish and pronounced minerality that complements the stone fruits and touch of savory spiciness present here.
