"Poveriano" gets its name from a vineyard on the Selvagrossa estate which historically was an old road named Poveriano. The wine is made from a strict selection of Cabernet Franc grapes. The grapes were destemmed, pressed, and vinified using methods that ensure a very gentle processing. The fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine aged in new barriques (Allier and Troncasse) for 14 months, and then in bottle for 6 months before release. An opaque ruby color and fragrant, green and herbal aromas on a solid background of blackberry. The mouthfeel is rich yet streamlined, with an acidity typical of Cabernet Franc but not at all crude and with tannins that are even sweet. A slight grassy note is only noticeable in the finish, while the aftertaste is fruity and slightly spicy. This is a mix of New World wine, more centered in fruit than herbs, and an Old World one, due to its dynamism.
