Thomas Pico has established himself as as a devoted organic grower in the inhospitable vinegrowing region of Chablis. Pico’s naturally-farmed and produced wines are the essence of “Chablis”, but not only in their briny minerality. There is a sense of vitality to the wines, and a textured density that can only come from dedicated work in the vineyards and transparent winemaking. Pico made this 1er Cru from 30yo vines tended organically in Courgis (from one of the highest vineyards in Chablis). 'Mise tardive' means he matures the wine for an extended period on fine lees – both in tank and neutral barrels. Aged in 4-6yo barrels for two years, then cuve for three months, the Beauregard is more forward in its youth than the Butteaux cuvee, offering very attractive redcurrant fruits on the nose, good weight and vinosity as well as a lingering finish with a mineral vibration.
