Mas Foulaquier Gran' Tonillieres 2017

Mas Foulaquier

The husband/wife team of Pierre Jéquier and Blandine Chaucet of Mas Foulaquier continue to churn out some of the most modestly-priced and underappreciated wines in Southern (and honestly, all of) France.  Working biodynamically in the Pic Saint Loup, they take the earthy, spicy, fruit forwardness often associated with the region and elevate it to a level of freshness, balance and precision that you don't often see.  The Gran'T is their top wine made from a lieu dit of 50+-year-old Carignan.  This wine is more structured and linear, with more animale to it as well.  As this wine ages, too, it will take on the lovely, highly-fragrant, leathery/mineral elements, in that Rayas-type vein.
