Claudio Mariotto is doing fabulous things with the Timorasso grape in the Colli Tortonesi zone of Piedmont. Whereas producers like Massa utilize a denser, more flamboyant style, Mariotto's is decidedly more precise, aromatic and crisp. This 2019 Derthona, the intro bottling from the estate, is a ton of wine for the money, showcasing just why so many people in the wine world are so infatuated with Timorasso. Drink it now if you like things fresh, drink it in 3-5 years if you like a broader, more complex glass of white.
Appellation: Colli Tortonesi
