The Kirschenmann vineyard site is located on an oxbow of the Mokelumne River just outside the tiny hamlet of Victor, California. The soils here are a result of the erosion of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east that have deposited loads of fine, sandy, granitic loam over the centuries. Fermented 100% whole cluster with native yeast, basket pressed, and aged in 360 gallon foudre and 1 neutral barrel for 10 months, this Zinfandel is wonderfully balanced and fleshy, with elegant briary black fruits and a spicy acidity.
Appellation: Mokelumne River AVA
