Claudio Mariotto is doing fabulous things with the Timorasso grape in the Colli Tortonesi zone of Piedmont. Whereas producers like Massa utilize a denser, more flamboyant style, Mariotto's is decidedly more precise, aromatic and crisp. This single-vineyard 2019 Pitasso is one of the best examples of Timorasso we've tasted in a long time. It combines the broader, more textured complexity that the grape is so known for, with a racy, mineral-driven frame. It will easily age gracefully for ten years, as well.
